I created this journal out of love for Russia. I want to share its beauty, explore its culture and discoveries, and tell the stories of people whose work, talent and care make life better.

What this journal is about
russia.direct is an independent, privately run journal about Russia. We explore landscapes, science, art, everyday culture and people doing useful work. We do not represent government agencies, tourism authorities or the organisations we cover.
A positive focus, with accurate context
We select constructive stories and preserve relevant context. An announcement, a construction milestone, a laboratory result and an operating facility are different things. We describe the stage supported by the source.
How stories are prepared
AI assists with research, translation and editorial preparation. Articles link to sources and distinguish publication dates from events. These are source-based accounts, not eyewitness reporting. Daily research does not guarantee a new post: unverified or duplicate stories are skipped.
The open collection
Our museum without walls is an editorial collection, not an official museum service. We connect artworks, architecture and scientific heritage with stories. Interpretations are distinguished from reference facts.

Images and corrections
