Our suggested first day is deliberately small: a waterfront, a museum, a bookshop and a café. Return to the same street at a different hour to notice the changing light.
Considering a longer stay? Test a normal commute and inspect the actual building. A beautiful address tells you little about heating, ventilation or the full rental bill. Try a short stay in your chosen neighbourhood before committing to a year.
