Wooden Tomsk: houses, carving and the memory of a city
The House with Dragons, a museum in Kryachkov’s home and an address associated with writer Vyacheslav Shishkov offer three approaches to the city.

At 68 Krasnoarmeyskaya Street, a house stands out through its steep roof, corner tower and decorative figures along the roofline. The Museum of Wooden Architecture, part of Tomsk Regional Art Museum, occupies the former home of engineer Andrei Kryachkov. Its permanent exhibition opened in May 2009. Save the addresses in Russian and decide whether your priority is viewing exteriors or taking a museum programme. Confirm opening hours, interior access and tour language with the institution. An entry in a heritage directory does not mean a building is open to the public today.
