Khakassky Nature Reserve has reviewed the first year since eight Przewalski’s horses arrived from Orenburg Region on 28 October 2025. Two stallions and six mares formed two groups at the Kamyzyak Steppe with Lake Ulukh-Kol site.
Staff monitor the animals, including through cameras, studying behaviour and climate adaptation. They also examine soil, water and grass productivity. This is ongoing reintroduction work, not a declaration that a self-sustaining population has been restored.
